After Etsy, Hi-Fi: Wheel Fi Defines the Bespoke Audio Craft

October 20, 2016

Rob Kalin may not be a household name in the audiophile world yet, but the founder of online marketplace Etsy is looking to change that. After going public, Kalin was forced out of his role at Etsy, leaving him with plenty of time to pursue a nearly lifelong passion—high fidelity audio.

Wheel Fi is a collaboration between Kalin and partner Jeffrey Jackson. Jackson himself is a well-regarded bespoke stereo component builder, engineer and hi-fi designer. Together they form Wheel Fi, designing and building large-scale high fidelity sound systems that are simply works of art. While there’s no pricing for their unique and gorgeous horn loudspeaker systems on their website (I’m sure they’re plenty expensive; just look at the "small" system pictured above), their works are simply worth drooling over (see Wheel Fi on Instagram). Audio Nirvana awaits.

In the meantime, check out the short film by Pascal Perich of what goes into crafting Wheel Fi systems.
